With a combination of physical and virtual exhibits, the 13th edition of Aero India 2021 held here from February 3-5 is billed as the world’s first hybrid aerospace and defense exhibit.

Greater reach

Aero India 2021 will run simultaneously as a physical exhibition and a virtual exhibition with booths planned in both realms. A note from the Press Information Office said this would translate into greater engagement and exhibitors will benefit from greater outreach to respond to those who could not physically attend the event. Attendees who join the event can virtually participate in seminars, interact with exhibitors and representatives, host B2B meetings and view product details and support videos, he added.

On Friday Defense Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the Supreme Committee meeting here to oversee the organization of Aero India in which Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat Defense Production Department Secretary Raj Kumar and Karnataka Chief Secretary P. Ravikumar were also present.

For his part, Mr. Yeddyurappa assured the full cooperation of the State to make this event a success. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by the Union and state governments for active participation, shared responsibility and synchronized efforts, as Aero India is one of the leading international aerospace and defense trade shows.

Driverless train

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday unveiled the first driverless metro car developed in India during his visit to BEML’s manufacturing plant here. “I am proud of the good work of the team of engineers and technicians at BEML. These are the real warriors of Atmanirbhar Bharat, who are pushing India forward, ”the minister tweeted.
