The Central Crime Directorate (CCB) on Tuesday arrested University Deputy Clerk Anna E. Parthasarathy for allegedly being part of a job scam, along with her son and others.

In 2019, Parthasarathy’s son, Vishveshwar, 29, and his accomplices – Rajapandi from Perambur, Arumugam from Madurai and Raju from Villivakkam – were arrested following several complaints of cheating. An investigation found that Vishveshwar had issued fake dating orders for jobs, including the post of public relations officer at Anna University, assistant engineers, junior engineers, junior assistant and office assistant at Tangedco, after taking between ₹ 1 lakh and ₹ 15 lakh each. While Vishveshwar was the main accused, the others worked as his agents. The victims were mostly from Erode and Madurai. Police suspect that the gang also cheated on young people in Chennai.

“Following an investigation, Parthasarathy’s involvement became apparent. The offenses were committed with his connivance. The defendants are suspected of having deceived more than 100 job applicants for a fee of 5 crore, ”said a CCB officer. Parthasarathy was arrested and taken into custody after questioning, police said.
