Indian football club Bengaluru FC said on Wednesday three cases of COVID-19 were detected among its players and staff after the team gathered to train here ahead of their AFC qualifier (preliminary round two) April 14.
The positive cases were reported during BFC’s training camp which kicked off here on April 5.
“The latest COVID-19 tests in the Blues camp in Goa have shown three positive cases among players and staff,” the club said on its Twitter account.
“Bengaluru FC continue to take all necessary precautions at the highest level to stay safe, secure and healthy.” BFC will face the Nepal Army Club or Sri Lankan Police at GMC Bambolim Stadium on April 14.
Previously, BFC skipper and Indian star Sunil Chettri had tested positive for COVID-19. The striker however recovered.
BFC finished seventh on the table at the end of the final leg of the ISL league.
The former champions scored 22 points after winning five matches, drawing seven and losing eight.
