Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases and a severe health infrastructure crisis, Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party Leader Arvin Kejriwal announced the lockdown was for a week. A week ago, on April 26, the CM pushed back the lockdown for a week, saying the severity of COVID-19 persisted and the positivity rate had reached 36% in recent days.

The chief minister said the coronavirus attack had not subsided even as the government imposed a six-day lockdown as the last weapon in its arsenal.

“Everyone voted to extend the lockdown. The positivity rate has reached 36-37% in recent days, although it has dropped slightly now. It is around 29% today,” a- he declared. To monitor the availability of oxygen, the Delhi government has decided that manufacturers, suppliers and hospitals will update supply and consumption data every two hours on a portal set up by it.
