The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has issued a show cause notice to three private hospitals for allegedly asking families of COVID 19 patients to arrange for the injection of Remdsivir. The civic body already has all the hospitals treating COVID 19 patients to organize the injection of Remdesivir by the collector’s office and not ask the families of the patients.
In order to verify the black commercialization of the Remdesivir injection, the civic body has put the responsibility of organizing the Remdesivir injection on the hospitals.
While asking hospitals under the NMMC zone to ensure that the use of Remedisivir injection, which is beneficial for COVID patients with severe symptoms, is in accordance with the guidelines given by the Maharashtra State Task Force as well as by ICMR. Abhijeet Bangar, the municipal commissioner had issued a special decree ordering that no hospital should give a prescription to the patient or the patient’s relatives as it is the hospital’s responsibility to obtain the required supply of Remedisivir injection by through the Collectorate. He also warned that strict action would be taken against hospitals in the event of a violation.
