Energy consumption increased by 41% in April 2021 to reach 119.27 billion units (BU) compared to the same month last year, showing a solid recovery in industrial and commercial demand for electricity, according to ministry data.

Power consumption in April of last year was recorded at 84.55 BU. In April of this year, the peak demand for electricity met, or the highest supply in a day, reached the highest level of 182.55 GW and recorded an increase of almost 38% compared to to 132.73 GW in April 2020.

Consumption in April of last year fell to 84.55 BU against 110.11 BU the same month in 2019.
