Dele Alli and Gareth Bale claimed places in Tottenham Hotspur’s first-team with superbly scoring goals in a 4-0 Europa League win over Austrian club Wolfsberg in the 32nd second leg on Wednesday.
Alli has fallen down the pecking order under manager Jose Mourinho, not starting a Premier League game since day one of the season but was clearly in the mood to impress.
The midfielder produced a sensational aerial kick in the 10th minute to give his side the advantage on the night, after winning the first leg 4-1 in Budapest.
Alli then provided an accurate cross for Carlos Vinicius to bring the score to 2-0 five minutes after half-time and was the supplier again as Bale, as a substitute, smashed a majestic third goal with his left foot . Vinicius, another Spurs player who found Premier League appearances difficult to find, scored his second goal of the night as Tottenham advanced to the last 16 with an aggregate 8-1 victory.
The result: Tottenham 4 (Alli 10, Vinicius 50, 83, Bale 73) bt Wolfsberg 0. (Tottenham win 8-1 overall).
