A bench of single judge of the High Court of Karnataka, Dharwad Bench, on Wednesday heard a request for release on bail by the chief of the Congress and former minister Vinay Kulkarni adjourned the hearing to January 20.
Previously, Judge Nataraj had granted additional time as requested by the CBI to file detailed objections to the former minister’s request for bail. The CBI has filed objections to the bail application now.
Appearing for the CBI via video conference on Wednesday, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju made his case and appealed to the court not to grant the defendant bail.
Lawyer Shashikiran Shetty appeared in court on behalf of Vinay Kulkarni.
After hearing from both sides, the judge observed that the court needed more time to study the arguments and rule on the matter and adjourned the hearing to January 20.
Vinay Kulkarni, who is in police custody, is now being held in Hindalga Prison in Belagavi for the murder of Zilla Panchayat member Yogeeshgouda Goudar.
