Five members of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) militia from neighboring Chhattisgarh were arrested by a combined squad of police and CRPF personnel in the Kurnapalli forest area in Charla Mandal on Tuesday morning.

Police said the arrested militia members had been tasked by the Maoists with reconnaissance of the movement of combing groups in remote villages on the edge of the forest across the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border.

They are from the village of Nimmalagudem, Sukma district, Chhattisgarh.

They were allegedly involved in subversive activities with local militiamen of the banned organization in border villages, including Chennapuram and Battigudem.
