Former MP Y. Sivaji paid rich tributes on Friday to former Indian Attorney General Soli Sorabjee, who died at the age of 91 on Friday.

Recalling his long and eventful association with Sorabjee, Dr Sivaji said India had lost a prominent legal scholar who fought for the rights of the people and sued for freedom of expression even during the emergency.

Dr Sivaji recalled that Sorabjee was the keynote speaker at the MR Masani Memorial Lecture held in Hyderabad in 2005, which was also attended by the former Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh, K. Rosaiah.
