The one-day rise in coronavirus cases has crossed the 1 lakh mark for the third time in four days. India reported 103,558 cases on April 5 and 115,736 infections on April 7.
A total of 1,26,789 infections were reported in one day, while the death toll increased to 1,66,862 with 685 new deaths per day, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.
Registering a steady increase for the 29th consecutive day, active cases rose to 9.10,319, or 7.04% of total infections, while the cure rate fell further to 91.67%, the data showed.
No less than 59,258 people were discharged / cured of illness during the same period. The number of people who have recovered from the disease soared to 1,185,1,393, while the case fatality rate fell further to 1.29%, the data showed.
According to the ICMR, 25,26,77,379 samples were tested through April 7 with 12,37,781 samples tested on Wednesday.
