New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has been announced as Warner’s replacement as SRH skipper after the team made a dismal start to the season, winning just once in seven matches. Cricket manager Tom Moody said the decision to drop Warner was down to the roster, but also said the Australian opener was “shocked” and “disappointed”.

Warner had earlier questioned the team’s decision to drop drummer Manish Pandey for his loss to the Delhi Capitals on April 25. Pandey opened the heats on Sunday in place of Warner.

“I don’t know if David maybe questioned some of the decisions, maybe when Manish Pandey was left out. Sometimes management doesn’t like that I guess. The team captain has to. Also owning his team. and who’s going on the pitch. Looks like there’s definitely something going on behind closed doors that the public isn’t aware of. “ Steyn said.
