Star India said it was “indebted” to its employees, on-air talent, production and broadcast teams for delivering broadcasts to millions of homes in these challenging times

Indian Premier League official broadcaster Star India on Tuesday supported the BCCI’s decision to suspend the lucrative T20 incident indefinitely due to a COVID-19 outbreak in its bio bubble.

Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha announced the suspension of the league after testing positive for COVID-19 with Delhi Capital veteran spinner Amit Mishra.

“Star India supports BCCI’s decision to postpone IPL 2021. The health and safety of players, employees and all those involved in IPL is paramount. We call on BCCI, IPL Governing Council, players, franchises and sponsors to support them Thank you, “Star. India said in a statement following the BCCI’s decision.

On Monday, Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers Sandeep Warrier and Varun Chakraborty, along with Chennai Super Kings bowling coach L Balaji, also returned positive results.

Broadcasters also said they were “indebted” to their staff, on-air talent, production and broadcast staff for delivering broadcasts to millions of homes in these challenging times.

“We are grateful to our employees, On Air Talent, Production and Broadcast Crew for doing their best to spread the positivity of broadcasting in millions of IPL 2021 homes despite challenging conditions,” the statement said.

Earlier, an official statement said that the BCCI does not want to compromise on the safety of players, support staff and other participants involved in the conduct of the IPL.
