Barbora Krejcikova will face Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the Roland Garros final after Czech world number 33 saved a match point to defeat Greece’s 17th seed Maria Sakkari 7-5, 4-6, 9-7 on Thursday.

Krejcikova, 25, is the fourth unranked female finalist in five years at Roland Garros. She won the Roland Garros title in doubles in 2018, but her previous best result in singles was a fourth-round race here last year.

This will be the sixth consecutive Roland-Garros to crown a first female grand champion.
