Producer Panorama Studios International of Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak has acquired the rights to the Hindi remake of the hit Malayalam film “Drishyam 2 – The Resumption”.
“Drishyam” has been redone in a record number of languages, including Hindi.
After the success of “Drishyam 2 – The Resumption”, the production house is ready to repeat the formula for success with a remake version in Hindi.
However, according to reports, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, which co-produced the first part with Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Ishita Dutta, has filed a lawsuit against Mangat, claiming the rights to the film’s remake also belong to them.
It comes after Viacom 18 argued that Mangat couldn’t separate them from the film and collaborate with someone else or direct it on his own.
The first hearing of the case will take place shortly.
Panorama Studio International’s Kumar Mangat Pathak shared, “With the huge success of ‘Drishyam 2’, the story must be told with passion and commitment and we as producers are committed to it.”
The original Malayalam producer of Drishyam 2, Antony Perumbavoor, also shared his contentment with the acquisition of the film, while hoping that the production house will justify the film under its banner.
Original Malayalam Drishyam 2 director Jeethu Joseph also said, “The story of ‘Drishyam 2’ resonated with people and I’m so happy that Panorama Studios is bringing it to a wider audience with the Hindi remake. I look forward. “
