Chambal Betwa Basin: The Chambal-Betwa basin, which comes under the Bhopal division, chief engineer, has 45 reservoirs. The water level in 27 reservoirs has reached a very low level. These include Birhai Reservoir, Chanderi Dam, Garethia Reservoir, Kalapipal Reservoir and Kerwa Dam.

23% of rainfall deficit in state: Until July 20, the state faces a 23 percent deficit in precipitation this season. As many as 33 districts in the state are experiencing rainfall deficit while 16 districts have experienced normal rainfall. Madhya Pradesh has experienced a 23 percent rainfall deficit as the expected rainfall through July 20 is around 311.3mm, but only 240.6mm has occurred so far.

Districts with 50% less than normal rainfall: Bhind, Gwalior, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Guna, Sagar, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Agar Malwa, Mandsaur, Ujjain, Indore, Dhar, Alirajpur, Barwani, Khargone, Khandwa, Harda, Hoshangabad, Seoni, Balaghat, Dindori, Anuppur, Umaria, Jabalpur, Katni and Satna received below normal rainfall ranging from 20 to 50%.

Districts with normal rainfall: Vidisha, Chhindwara, Betul, Burhanpur, Ratlam, Jhabua, Neemuch, Mandla and Shahdol received less rainfall ranging from 1% to 19%. However, according to the weather service, the situation is normal here.
