A day after announcing action would be taken against those gathered to protest in violation of Article 144, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant issued an addendum to the banning orders. The use of facilities such as swimming pools, gymnasiums and party rooms in apartments and residential complexes in the city is prohibited. The restrictions are similar to those introduced by the state government last week.
In accordance with the ordinance of April 4, article 144 will be in force until April 20. The revised order was made following the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Bengaluru. “For an effective implementation of the COVID-19 protocol, it is deemed necessary to issue an addendum,” Pant said in the new order.
