T. Rabi Sankar took office Monday as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. Mr. Sankar, who was executive director before his appointment, will oversee eight departments, including currency management, foreign exchange and internal debt management.
A career central banker, he joined the Reserve Bank in 1990.
His areas of expertise include exchange rate management and reserve portfolio management.
He was an IMF consultant between 2005 and 2011. Mr. Sankar holds a master’s degree in philosophy in economics from JNU.
